How to use

Enter a pay amount and choose whether it covers one hour, one working week, one month or a full year. Select the currency already used by that amount, then enter your usual hours per working week and the number of paid working weeks in the year. Calculate shows the annual amount first, followed by monthly, weekly and hourly equivalents. Copy result includes both the figures and the schedule assumptions.

The starting example is 25 per hour, 40 hours per week and 52 paid weeks. You can calculate it immediately. Focusing an example field clears that field for your own value; leaving it empty restores the muted example. Editing any value or selection clears the confirmed result until you calculate again. Clear removes your entries and result while keeping the selected pay period and currency.

What the figures mean

This tool puts different pay periods on a common annual basis. It is useful when reading a quoted hourly rate or converting a stated yearly salary into an average monthly amount. It does not decide whether an offer is good, calculate a household budget, or estimate take-home pay.

An hourly input is multiplied by hours per week and paid weeks per year. A weekly input is multiplied by paid weeks. A monthly input is multiplied by 12, while an annual input is already the annual total. The annual amount is then divided by 12 for monthly pay, by paid weeks for weekly pay, and by hours × paid weeks for hourly pay.

The weekly result is per paid working week, not necessarily a calendar-week average. Monthly pay is a twelve-month average, even when you work only part of the year. For monthly and annual inputs, changing the schedule changes the hourly and weekly equivalents but does not change the annual total.

Two worked examples

With USD 25 per hour, 40 hours per week and 52 paid weeks, the annual total is USD 52,000. The weekly equivalent is USD 1,000 and the monthly average is approximately USD 4,333.33. With only 48 paid weeks at the same hourly rate, the annual total becomes USD 48,000 and the monthly average becomes USD 4,000.

Starting instead from USD 4,000 per month, 40 hours per week and 48 paid weeks gives USD 48,000 annually, USD 1,000 per paid week and USD 25 per hour. This demonstrates why a month is not treated as four weeks. The calculations keep full precision until the displayed amounts are rounded.

Inputs, rounding and limitations

Zero pay is allowed. Hours and paid weeks must be positive because they are divisors in the reverse conversions. Decimal values are accepted: use a point or comma as the decimal separator, with no thousands separators or currency symbols. The input amount is limited to one billion currency units; hours are limited to 168 and paid weeks to 53. These are calculation bounds, not work recommendations.

Use paid weeks consistently with the amount you enter. For an hourly job, exclude weeks that receive no pay and include paid leave if the same rate applies. This simplified model assumes one constant rate and schedule. It does not automatically add overtime premiums, bonuses, commissions, unpaid breaks, employer benefits or a thirteenth salary payment.

Currency affects the label and normal rounding precision only. No exchange rates are fetched. Very small positive results display as less than the smallest displayed currency unit rather than falsely appearing as zero. Copy uses the same rounded display values. Calculations run in this browser; this page does not save a financial history.

Frequently asked questions

Is this take-home pay?

No. Every result is before tax, insurance, pension contributions and other deductions. No country's payroll or tax rules are applied.

Does selecting EUR convert a USD amount?

No. Currency is a display choice. Enter an amount that is already in the selected currency.

Why does changing weeks affect an hourly equivalent?

A fixed annual total spread over fewer paid hours gives a higher equivalent hourly rate. An hourly input instead changes the annual total when paid weeks change.

Can I include bonuses or varying shifts?

The calculator uses one rate and schedule. If you already know a combined annual gross total, enter it as annual pay. The tool does not predict irregular earnings.
