How to make a crossword
Enter your words
Type a word in the Word box and its clue in the Clue box on the same row. For example, enter TREE and A plant with a trunk. Use Add word for another pair, or the remove button beside a pair to delete it. Completely empty rows are ignored; a partly filled row needs both fields. Clues are yours: the tool does not invent definitions. English sample words can be replaced with words in any supported script.
Check the generated puzzle
Generate places crossing words in one connected grid. Numbers are shared by an across and a down word when they start in the same cell. Only placed words appear in the clue lists. Read the warning if some words could not fit: common letters help, but adjacent cells and the grid boundary can still prevent a placement. Generate again to try another arrangement.
Print or keep a copy
Show answers checks the on-screen grid. Print includes a blank puzzle with its clues, followed by the answer key on a new page. Choose Save as PDF in your browser’s print dialog, or save the HTML file for later. Long clues can continue onto another printed page. Your text is saved as a local draft where browser storage is available; Clear removes that draft. The generated layout is not restored after reload.
