Convert CSV rows to JSON without guessing data types

Paste CSV, select its delimiter and decide whether the first row contains headers. Quoted delimiters, embedded line breaks, escaped quotes, empty cells and a leading BOM are handled locally.

How to convert CSV to JSON

Convert a table

  1. Paste CSV text.
  2. Select comma, semicolon, tab or pipe and set the header option.
  3. Choose Convert to JSON and correct quote or column errors.
  4. Review the JSON array, then copy it.

Parsing rules

A quoted field may contain delimiters and line breaks. Two quotes inside a quoted field become one literal quote. Empty cells remain empty strings and empty physical lines are skipped.

Every cell stays a string. Values such as 0012 and 9007199254740993 are not changed into numbers. With headers enabled, each row becomes an object.

CSV limits

  • All non-empty rows must have the same number of columns. Duplicate or empty headers are errors rather than silent overwrites.
  • Does not upload files, detect legacy encodings, convert JSON back to CSV or fetch remote URLs.

CSV to JSON FAQ

Why are numbers quoted in JSON?

String preservation prevents leading zeros, long identifiers and large integers from changing.

Can a field contain a line break?

Yes, when the field is enclosed in quotes.

What happens to duplicate headers?

Conversion stops with an error so no column is overwritten.
