How to use the eDPI calculator
Calculate your current eDPI
Enter the DPI configured for your mouse and the sensitivity shown in the game. Choose Calculate eDPI. The calculator multiplies the two values: eDPI = DPI × in-game sensitivity. The result is a convenient single number for comparing settings inside that same game.
Keep the same eDPI after changing DPI
If you plan to change mouse DPI, enter the new DPI in the optional field. The calculator divides the current eDPI by the new DPI: new sensitivity = current eDPI ÷ new DPI. Apply that sensitivity in the same game, with the same yaw or input settings, if you want the product to stay equal.
Why the game must stay the same
Games can use different sensitivity scales, yaw values, field-of-view behavior, acceleration, or input processing. An eDPI of 400 in one game therefore does not guarantee the same physical turn distance as 400 eDPI in another. This page intentionally does not convert between games or claim a cm/360 distance.
Read and verify the result
Results show up to two decimal places for ordinary values. Very small non-zero sensitivities use scientific notation instead of appearing as zero. Editing any field immediately removes the confirmed result and disables Copy, so an older answer cannot be mistaken for the current inputs.
Worked examples
800 DPI and 0.5 sensitivity
800 × 0.5 = 400 eDPI. If the new DPI is left blank, the calculator reports only the current eDPI.
Change from 800 DPI to 1600 DPI
Starting from 400 eDPI, 400 ÷ 1600 = 0.25. In the same game and with the same yaw settings, use 0.25 sensitivity at 1600 DPI to keep the eDPI product at 400.
Limits and input rules
- DPI, sensitivity, and optional new DPI must be positive finite decimal numbers. Units, commas, fractions, formulas, zero, and negative values are rejected.
- The result describes the arithmetic product only. It does not read your mouse, change a game setting, recommend an ideal sensitivity, or verify how a particular game handles raw input.
- Rounding affects only the displayed text. Use the game’s accepted sensitivity precision when entering the calculated value. A game that rounds or clamps settings may not preserve the exact product.
Frequently asked questions
What does eDPI mean?
Effective DPI is a shorthand made by multiplying mouse DPI by the in-game sensitivity value.
Can I compare eDPI across different games?
No. The numeric sensitivity scales differ, so eDPI is useful mainly within the same game.
Does a higher eDPI mean a better setting?
No. This calculator performs arithmetic and does not recommend performance settings.
Why is the new DPI optional?
You only need it when you want to calculate a same-game sensitivity that keeps the current eDPI.
