How to generate UUID v4 values
Enter a whole-number count from 1 to 100 and select Generate UUIDs. Results appear one per line and the copy action copies the current confirmed batch only. Any input edit clears the old result.
Format check
Each value has 36 characters in the 8-4-4-4-12 hexadecimal layout. The first digit of the third group is 4 for version 4, and the first digit of the fourth group is 8, 9, a, or b for the RFC variant.
Example
A value can look like 36b8f84d-df4e-4d49-b662-bcde71a8764f. Use it as an opaque identifier; do not infer a creation time, database sequence, or user information from it.
Limits and FAQ
Generation uses the browser cryptographic random source, never Math.random. This tool does not store identifiers, create other UUID versions, connect to a database, or guarantee absolute uniqueness. Enforce uniqueness in your own data store when required.
What is a UUID?
A UUID is a 128-bit identifier written as hexadecimal groups. Version 4 fills almost all identifier bits with cryptographically secure random data, while fixed version and variant bits describe the format. In everyday use, yes: it is essentially a randomly generated ID, not a serial number with hidden meaning.
Where to use it safely
UUID v4 values work well as public object IDs, request IDs, filenames, test records, and distributed database keys generated without a central counter. Store the full text, compare it exactly, and add a database unique constraint when duplicates must be rejected. Do not use a UUID by itself as a password, access token, or proof of authorization.
